Survival

Phew. Today was a very long day. Logan was so cranky the whole time!

We woke up at 9:30 this morning. We played for a little bit, and he ate. At 11:30, he and I walked up to the Spaghetti Factory to meet Patricia, and her twin boys, Peyton and Davin, for lunch. They are so adorable!! They are almost 10 months old, and definitely are Chub-a-lubs. Very cute.

Logan slept on the way to the restaurant, and for maybe another 20 minutes when we were there. Then he woke up and wanted to eat. After I fed him, he was smiley at everyone who came to visit. (Patricia and I both worked there before babies.)

Towards the end of our meal, Logan started getting really fussy. I made him another bottle because I thought he was still hungry. (He's been going through a growth spurt!) But he didn't want that. He didn't want to burp. I took him to the restroom, and changed him, and he was still fussy. Ugh.

We said goodbye to Noelle, and some of the other people there, and walked home. Logan fell asleep again but woke up when we got home. From then on, he was crying. When Nick got home at 4:30, I had to just pass him along. There was obviously something wrong, but I couldn't figure out what it was, and I was super frusterated!

I went up and did all the laundry, and Logan cried with Nick. Then, at 7:00, I went to get some food for us. Logan was still crying when I left.

When I was out, some stupid lady on the 30th street hill almost hit me head on! She pulled onto the road parked on the wrong side, right in front of me. I came within feet of hitting her. There were people on the sidewalk and they jumped away it was so close. Our pizza landed all over the floor.. grr.

When I got home, FINALLY there was a happy baby.

I'm pretty sure the formula that Logan is on is making him constipated. We will just have to wait a week or so to see if it gets better, or we might have to play the formula game.

Here's to hoping that tonight and this weekend are 100% better than today.

Logan Pictures Slideshow

6 week checkup

Well we went to Dr. Alleman's today. Logan weighs in at 10 pounds, 12 oz! He is up 4.4 pounds in 5 weeks! (We left the hospital 5 weeks ago tomorrow, at 6 pounds 8 oz!). He is 22 1/2 inches long, up from 20 inches at birth. His head circumfrence is 37cm. I can't remember what it was when he was born.

With Dr. Alleman's reccommendation, we've decided to switch to lactose free formula instead of breastfeeding. Logan seems to be tolerating that a lot better than the breastmilk. He is almost a brand new baby! So for now, I am still pumping and storing my milk until I can make myself stop. I am hoping that somewhere down the line he'll be able to take the milk that I've stored. If not, oh well. He is so much happier now. It is really rough on me, but I will deal with it.

On Tuesday, Jeanene, Joey, Logan and I went to the Mom and Baby class again. This time, there was a pediatric linguist speaker. It was really neat learning how babies develop their language. She also stressed the importance of baby sign language. We will definitely be teaching him to sign!

Tomorrow, we are meeting Noelle and some other friends and their boys at Odessey 1 during the day. It'll be nice getting out of the house :)

We just found out that Logan will be getting a new cousin on Nick's side! Congratulations Michelle!

That's it for now. :)

Colic

Well, I haven't updated in awhile, so here's a recap.

Logan is now almost 6 weeks old (Monday). He is doing really well. He is getting so stong! He holds his head up for a few minutes at a time, and loves to put weight on his little legs.

Some things we've been doing:

Last weekend, we spent the first night out of our house with Logan. We went to Nick's parents for the weekend since it was supposed to be in the high 90's! That makes our condo very hot. On Sunday, all the guys went boating/innertubing. Logan, Martha, Maureen and I sat on the side of the lake. Logan loved being outside. We had his clothes off most of the time (naked baby!) and he was really comfortable. At one point, he started screaming in pain and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I was afraid that he had been bitten by a bug! I finally figured out that he had his hand intertwined in his hair. It was wrapped all around his fingers, and he was PULLING really hard. His scalp was all red by the time I got him to let go (he has a death grip!), and he had a fistfull of hair :( Poor thing!

Tuesday, my friend Jeanene and I took our little guys to a Mom and Baby class. Her little Joey is 5 1/2 months old. We had a good time and learned a lot of useful information. We will be going back every week until I start school at the end of September.

That night, Logan started screaming. He cried from 6-9:30pm. The next night, the same thing happened, but then he was up again from 4am-7am screaming. I took him to the doctor yesterday, and he was diagnosed with colic. The doctor gave me some formula to try. We have been giving him a bottle of 1/2 formula 1/2 milk before bed so he will sleep longer since he is still up every 1-2 hours. Hopefully he'll grow out of this fast. It is so hard seeing your baby in pain and not being able to do anything about it.

He weighed in yesterday at 10 lbs, 4 1/2 oz. Up from just over 10 lbs on Tuesday at the class!

That's about it for now. I'll try and work harder at updating more often!

Daily Life- Aug. 5

Well it has been an interesting few days! Logan had been going through a growth spurt and was eating literally every hour all weekend. That sure made sleep hard to come by! But now he's finally moving through it, and we are all getting sleep again yay!

Friday night, my computer decided to call it quits and I had to reinstall Windows. I lost everything on my computer sadly. I lost some movies that I had of Logan in my belly moving, letters that I wrote to him while I was pregnant, and I thought I lost our wedding video, but thank goodness Nick had that on his computer. I lost a ton of pictures and everything too. I definitely learned my lesson about backing things up!! My mom got me a flash drive, so I will be putting everything on that from now on.

Sunday night, my mom, her boyfriend, and my little sister arrived from Colorado. They got in after midnight. My dad picked up my sister and mom and Kevin got a rental car. Yesterday they all came over and spent the afternoon/evening with us. Then we all went out to dinner at the Rock. It was a very nice time.. other than Logan eating constantly!

Today, we went to the zoo. Mom took all of her grandkids, me, Amanda, and Kevin. Whew that was a rough time! I feel bad for mom.. the older four kids got pretty restless. It was extremely hot and there were a lot of people there too. That was Logan's second time to the zoo already! And he's only 3 weeks old! Overall, we had a nice time, until we got too hot and tired. The zoo is so nice now :)

Well, that's about it for now :)
